The aim of the project is to minimize transmission teaching and replace it with constructivist teaching in the subjects of history, social studies and geography. The key to change lies in the appropriate teaching style being adopted by the teacher. To help master the constructivist teaching style, we offer teachers innovative teaching guidance materials, training and mentor’s assistance.
- Transmission approach to teaching: we present the pupil with a designated body of knowledge integrated in the scientific systems. Success is measured by the amount of knowledge the pupil can reproduce and their ability to master the scientific structure of such knowledge.
- Constructivist education: we assign tasks to the pupil or otherwise create an environment in which they have the opportunity and the desire to ask, search and test their answers, and ultimately construct their knowledge resulting from their previous knowledge and “common sense.” Success is measured by the pupils’ ability to use various strategies of gaining knowledge and placing it into meaningful structures.
