Together with a team of experts, we are elaborating on a concept of natural science education for the second stage of primary education which respects the natural, empirical model of children's learning. ExpEdition - Experience, Inquire, Uncover helps to turn classwork into complex opportunities for pupils to see purpose in proactive exploration, to inquire, to experience teamwork and learn to be a team player, as well as to share their findings with their peers. We aim to empower teachers in understanding this process and accompanying the children's learning through meaningful class discussions.
This educational concept has been tested in thirteen pilot schools in various regions of Slovakia since February 2017. We are delighted to see how this inquiry-based science education and constructivist approach boosts joy for learning in children, while systematically developing the research skills and competencies needed in everyday life.
As a result of our pilot project, we now offer workbooks for pupils introducing a series of inductive activities exploring biology, geography, physics, and chemistry, all in compliance with the State Educational Program. We offer training courses and teaching guidance materials as support to teachers.
